6.5ct blue diamond auctioned for $3.56 million

By: Steve Gerencser

On Saturday French auction house Guizzetti-Collet sold a 6.5 carat blue diamond for €2.43 million ($3.56 million), which totaled $547,692 per carat. The hammer price came to more than three times the stone’s estimated value of between €500,000 and €700,000.

The Reims-based auction house said that the “blue intense homogenous” diamond with “extraordinary” coloration, was taken from a ring bought in 1962 by the owners of a champagne house.

An international company specializing in buying precious stones placed the winning bid by phone, according to AFP. The company’s name was not released.

Originally created in 1902, this particular egg was purchased by an unnamed Russian collector and it marks a continued return of Russian art to it’s original home in Russia as more and more Russian collectors have he ability to recover them.

Gucci releases new luxury watch

By: Steve Gerencser

Gucci has released a new luxury timepiece, the Horsebit Cocktail watch. Adorned with a diamond pav‚ or semi-four, delicate horsebits clasp the watch’s slightly convex case, creating a jewel-like silhouette.

Available in two sleek treatments — stainless steel or white gold — the watch comes with either a lizard skin or satin strap, in black or white shades.

On the bands’ reverse, Gucci’s double-G logo is imprinted on kid-skin leather. A minimalist metallic dial — and a diamond-accented crown on the most deluxe versions — adds a decidedly sophisticated finish.

Designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini, the Horsebit Cocktail watch reflects Giannini’s strength for melding the house’s celebrated heritage with the ideals of modern luxury.

Paris sends Pamela a great wedding present

By: Steve Gerencser

Pamela AndersonWhen it was announced that Pamela Anderson had married Paris Hilton’s ex-boyfriend, Rick Salomon, I’m sure that someone told Paris “This would be seriously funny”.

The present? A video camera with a note attached saying ” Congrats Mrs. Salomon, but be warned…love Paris.” You think Paris was referring the to the sex tape she had made with Rick just a few years ago? Nah, that would be mean, and we all know that the mean girl is Lindsay.

A source claims that Pam laughed it off and passed the box to Rick.
